Actively Investing In Protecting Information
We work to make a change with the protection of Data by doing more than just talking about it
The data centers and digital infrastructure sector lacks no reputation in offering a highly attractive investment opportunity due to the exponential growth in data consumption, cloud computing, and digital transformation across multiple industries. Scientia Holdings’ thesis for this sector revolves around acquiring or investing in mid-to-large-scale data center providers and digital infrastructure companies that are strongly positioned to capitalize on the rising demand for data storage, processing, and connectivity.
We focus on markets with a robust demand for data infrastructure, particularly in urban regions. In Southern Africa, our key target areas include Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban, which are growing as digital hubs on the continent. Internationally, we prioritize established markets in North America, Europe, and parts of Southeast Asia, such as Singapore and India, which usually demonstrate growth in digital initiatives and cloud adoption.
Scientia targets data centers and digital infrastructure firms with stable, recurring revenue models, such as colocation services, managed cloud solutions, and interconnection services. We seek companies with annual revenues ranging from R200 million to R2 billion, EBITDA margins above 20%, and scalable infrastructure capable of accommodating increasing demand. Organizations with strong customer bases that include enterprise clients, cloud providers, and government entities are particularly attractive.
Our investment parameters also emphasize energy efficiency, favoring firms that integrate renewable energy sources and carbon-neutral technologies into their operations. Scientia prioritizes companies with strong security frameworks, compliance with global standards (e.g., ISO, GDPR), and approaches to edge computing or hyperscale capabilities.
