We Actively Invest in Advancing Medical Knowledge

Developing Tomorrow’s Healthcare Solutions

Our investment thesis centers on acquiring or investing in companies that provide essential healthcare services, develop medical technologies, or offer solutions within the pharmaceutical, diagnostics, or healthcare IT segments. Scientia seeks to focus on healthcare companies that align with long-term trends, such as increased access to healthcare in growing markets and the adoption of technologies like telemedicine. In Southern Africa, we target healthcare firms located in urban centers such as Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Pretoria, where there is a growing demand for private healthcare services and technologies. Internationally, we focus on developed markets like North America and Western Europe, as well as growing markets like India and Brazil, where healthcare infrastructure is rapidly expanding.

Scientia seeks healthcare companies with strong, predictable cash flows, diversified revenue streams, and a focus on scalable models. Target firms should have annual revenues ranging from R300 million to R3 billion, EBITDA margins of 18% or higher, and demonstrated growth potential through either service delivery or technology adoption. We prioritize companies specializing in private hospitals, diagnostics laboratories, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or healthcare IT systems, with proven leadership and the ability to expand market share.

ESG compliance is an important factor, as we favor companies that promote affordable access to healthcare, adhere to stringent regulatory standards, and prioritize patient outcomes. Scientia also values firms with strong R&D pipelines, particularly those exploring therapies, diagnostics, or digital healthcare solutions. Our investment strategy involves working with management teams that have a clear vision for operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and long-term growth.
